Dr Susan Hawthorne (Australia) is a Research Associate at Victoria University Melbourne, an Asialink Fellow at the University of Madras (Jul-Oct 2009) and Publisher at Spinifex Press. She is the author of four collections of poetry, and a fifth, Earth’s Breath, is forthcoming in 2009. She is the author of Wild Politics: Feminism, Globalisation and Bio/diversity (2002, India 2008) and forthcoming in 2009 Economies of Dissent: On empire, war and intellectual property. She is also co-editor (with Bronwyn Winter) of September 11, 2001: Feminist Perspectives. She has been involved in local ecological activism and at the national level. She has contributed to journals, magazines and online publications in many countries.
