Debbie Quinata

Debbie Quinata (Guam) is the Magahaga (Woman Leader/Chief) of the Chamoru Nation, the indigenous people of the Marianas Island chain, a matrilineal society.

A Social Worker by education, Debbie currently works as the Union Organizer for Guam's only Local Union. She attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Debbie Quinata is married to Cory Quinata; she is the mother of six children - five daughters and a son; and a grand mother of ten grandsons and three granddaughters.

As the Chamoru Nation’s leader she has traveled extensively representing the indigenous people of Guam. In her travels she has spoken several times at the United Nation's Committee on Decolonization in New York, Fiji and in St. Lucia.

Debbie believes that strength is garnered by developing a strong alliance and network throughout the region as well as internationally. With this understanding Debbie has participated in several conferences promoting peace, justice and demilitarization of the Asia Pacific region.
